If the leftist movement is dedicated to attacking scarecrows and, even then, can achieve concrete results in the real world, it is because the real opponents were neutralized before they were taken from the scene almost completely. Before that, the leftist movement dominated the philosophical-cultural life of the country and the conservative thinking was expelled from the cultural life both by exposure of the true errors as the caricature of what's left.
I, who am an atheist, I will make one more biblical analogy. James 2: 14-26 and Hebrews 11 are on faith and works, citing persons who have been approved by God by faith and works together. We can summarize them in James 2: 26: "For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also". But faith is to the works as the spirit is to the body. So, faith without works would be like a disembodied spirit, a ghost, which would also be a lack of human life. But the works also give life to faith. And I will also make an analogy with the Egyptian mummies: mummies were the dead bodies of the pharaohs, dead but preserved, that the Egyptians preserved believing they would resurrect. In this metaphor, Conservatism is the spirit.
The leftists are already burying Conservatism since the mid-nineteenth century. When segments of the leftist movement began, themselves, to be embarrassed in several countries, socialist ideology was already consolidated in social life, culture and politics, sometimes it was also in the formal power. If today we have the President of Brazil Dilma Rousseff, leftist, with rejection of 60, 70 percent, it is because she and her companions did so much crap that even those who voted for her party the fourth consecutive time are experiencing problems such as shrinkage of the economy, unemployment in the public sector and the private sector, laws that leave honest citizens at the mercy of crime and loss of funding for social programs. When popular protests against the government happened, only then few so-called opposition politicians appeared for a few little words.
How could a country with over 70% of Catholics and about 15% of evangelicals elect in 2010 a person publicly known as a socialist former guerrilla for the presidency in 2010, electing the third consecutive time the same left-wing party? Why the candidate José Maria Eymael, which announced himself as a Christian Democrat and proposed the Ministry of the Family, was not even known in the Christian environment?
Can you say the name of a printed newspaper of the Christian Right-wing in Brazil? Or a magazine? You must have thought the names of some columnists like Reinaldo Azevedo, who is in Folha de São Paulo in "equality" with fool leftists as Guilherme Boulos and Tati Bernardi; or Rodrigo Constantino, who has been in the newspaper O Globo in "equality" with Luís Fernando Veríssimo. But where is A WHOLE NEWSPAPER of Christian right-wing stream in Brazil, as the left-wing has Opinião Socialista, Causa Operária, Brasil de Fato, A Nova Democracia?
And we have to observe the case Adolf Hitler. First, he was of the National Socialist German Workers' Party. Why a right-wing group would use a name like that? Why, then, he was supported by big capitalists? Because it was either him or Stalin. So, since there did not exist a significant right-wing. When the Nazis lost the Second World War and Nazism received the label of extreme-right, the right-wing was also defeated: the rightism was where leftists said it was.
Today, we are seeing the leftist saying absurdities that would not be taken seriously in a mentally normal and reasonably well-informed community, absurds both about society and about the right-wing or Christianity. They achieve to say things that if the truth seemed vaguely with them, they could not walk on the streets. But the nonsense are on television, in the arts, in the lectures at universities. The moral and mental sanity seems that only survives discreetly.
The Communist Manifesto said that Communism was a specter that haunted Europe. Today, at least in Brazil, the ghost is the right-wing, and the leftist movement is The Ghostbusters.
