It has been said and proved that moral degradation and mental degradation are linked, both in individuals and in communities. An example of work in this regard is the book "Political Ponerology", by dr. Andrew M. Lobaczewski. But if there is no moral degradation without mental degradation, both intellectual and psychiatric, is it also true that there is no moral excellence without good intelligence and good mental soundness? Yes.
If you know the Bible (I do not believe in it), you may have noticed that at least the good part of biblical Christianity is not to fainthearted persons. Elias called the 450 prophets of Baal, who ate at the Queen Jezebel's table, to a public challenge to their god against the God of which he was the sole representative on the occasion (1 Kings 18: 17-40). Jesus Christ himself would have been a sucker like Dalai Lama, and would have lived as long as he, if he had not done things like expel the temple door marketers (Luke 19: 45-48) or expose the hypocrisy of the scribes and Pharisees (chapter 23 of Matthew is devoted entirely to it). How many prophets would be left in the Bible if they cared to talk softly with the king or the priests? Let's take less bold cases? Egyptian midwives when Pharaoh wanted to control the growth of the Jewish people, they had orders to kill newborns if they were boys, but they disobeyed because of the fear of God (Exodus 1: 15-21). Gideon received a call from God to take down an altar to Baal, he did it at night, but he did (Judges 6: 25-27). Abigail (1 Samuel 25: 2-42) sent food to the servants of David who were mistreated by her husband behind his back. But my favorite biblical female character is not Abigail: is Rahab, who besides smart and brave, was a prostitute, hehehehe. When the Hebrew spies came to Jericho, she hid them of the king of the city in his own house, on the wall of the city (Joshua 2). And though it was "well served", the city was minuscule!

But there's another scripture, from Jesus to his disciples, but that could be a promise to those who were not: "and whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold {water} only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward" (Matthew 10: 42). How much good will, or even courage, could be behind that glass of water?
Let us remember the words of Jesus about the false prophets, but also apply to his own disciples: "Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?" (Matthew 7: 16). Matthew 7: 15-20 are about the fruits as consequences of the nature, but verse 16 also shows something else: the fruits make us recognize the tree. If you, for example, never saw a guava tree, but you know how is a guava and you are walking in the fields when you see a tree with guavas, that's all, you discovered how is a guava tree. More scriptures on good works: James 2: 14-26, Ephesians 2: 10, Matthew 5: 16. The list in Hebrews 11 is called "heroes of faith", including Rahab in verse 31. Many suckers argue that good works do not lead to salvation and they think they liquidated the issue, but what these texts say is that there are good works that are CONSEQUENCE of the salvation and of the difference of those who follow the Gospel.
No more Bible! I am preacher of atheism and fornication and this already is unappropriated for me, hehehehe! The point I emphasize here is that the good speech and the PRACTICAL good deeds characterize, TOGETHER, the honorable people. But we are so accustomed to the evil, the stupidity, the mediocrity and the lack of action that we consider that a person is of good character only because this person never did anything WRONG.
I myself, as early readers have seen me say, I have tried to be the joy of my friends and acquaintances men of worth in the physical world since I was 14 years old. Conversations filled with giggles is something to a bitch who is closer friend of the bus collector and of the bus driver, she travels half naked without paying passage in exchange for covert glances and indecent comments behind her. I have more I can give and I have found that men deserve what I have to give. And I have given. It's not what you are thinking, but only in that part were 247 kittens in 10 years.
Today, even evangelical churches, which recently had a moral conduct recognized even by their worst enemies, were driven by the moral crisis of the Christian West, which is anecdotal in Brazil in particular. "Angola prohibits operation of evangelical churches from Brazil", article of Folha de São Paulo at 04/27/2013. Among the prohibited churches are Universal Church of the Kingdom of God and World Church of God's Power. The founder of these last, Valdomiro Santiago, was pastor in the first and created a faction. The first, in the following year, would support the then candidate for re-election to the presidency of Brazil, the former terrorist lesbian-Socialist Dilma Rousseff. Folks, I have to bring three more biblical texts. Let's record it: I, being a licentious atheist, I put more biblical texts in this text that much pastors in a preaching. What if one say in the majority of the churches today "be ye followers of me, even as I also {am} of Christ" (1 Corinthians 11: 1)? This one can hear: "Your glorying {is} not good" (1 Corinthians 5: 6a). Folks, I could not miss the joke. We got to the point that the text of Matthew 7: 1-5, the one that starts with "judge not", passes from the admonition of Jesus against the hypocrisy to a cliché of bitches in end of carreer against the moral sense. The today typical Christian understands any demonstration of zeal for virtue as hypocrisy, because he lost the moral and mental ability to imagine an authentic virtue, even if it is imperfect. So, for him, every virtue is a farce in itself. Incidentally, this Christian sees imperfect virtues only when they are, in fact, the persistence of himself or of his group in shamelessness and stupidity. But the median Christians do not realize, by functional illiteracy and moral illiteracy, that the message of Jesus is not that the rest of the world is as sordid as themselves or worse, it is that himself, Jesus, will put in them the sticks they like use in the other (folks, at that time canes were used as tape measures). It is because of this crisis that the evangelical church grew numerically, because, as they say in evangelical circles, the world entered the church. It is no coincidence that the inconsistencies that observers as the Brazilians Luciano Ayan and Olavo de Carvalho or the American Thomas Sowell highlight in the leftists today, both politicians and "thinking elite", are very much similar to the absurdities that intellectually reasonable atheists documented in the Christian environment in the 2000s. Even the historic churches have passed the stage of hypocrisy, the rule is the aversion to the greatness of character along with the exaltation of semi-illiteracy and gimnophobia.
Since I do not believe neither in God nor in chastity, I can see more clearly a mistake of Christians that is dangerous even for Christians themselves: the "parental control" in television programming, the Internet, etc. You Christian reader probably can make an acceptable defense of chastity. But have been decades in which Christians helped in the fight against pornography, prostitution and sex outside marriage and, therefore, consolidated socialism while prostitutes were murdered by state omission, but people were arrested or prosecuted for works considered indecent. I have brought a small selection still in December 2007 and another in September 2010: what has happened to some people because they saw or did erotic or pornographic material was not done, at least not so quickly, to many people who were proven they are involved corruption or many notoriously bad employees. In November 2014, I wrote "Viva prostitution, pornography and... civil liberties", in which in addition to showing that the crackdown on pornography and prostitution is associated with political repression, I quoted examples (excerpt from other text) showing that the same tools used to censor naked women ALREADY WERE USED to censor anti-left or traditional Christian content. Moreover, it is illustrative to see the rev. Augustus Nicodemus Lopes, who wrote the text "Qual o problema em gostar um pouco de pornografia?" (What's wrong in liking a little porn?) repeating the same blatant lies used by the worst factions of Feminism to transform male heterosexuality in police matter, write "Não estou ofendido" (I'm not offended), commented one staging of a transsexual nailed to a cross in a LGBT Parade sponsored at least by the bank Caixa Econômica Federal and the City Hall of São Paulo just to make a theater of indifferent superiority - or, even worse, to show with sincerity his own inability to perceive when the faith he professes is publicly attacked.
You Brazilian Christian friends probably can cite names in your own circle of convivence whose if go to church on Sunday night, do not going in the morning, but they block their brother on Facebook because he criticizes the Workers Party. Christian and atheist anti-feminist friends have seen that when they share some pearl by "radical" feminists, or just an atrocity committed by a woman, in Facebook, may appear moderate feminist and non-feminists women like a swarm of bees saying that one should not generalize, but never one of them said she was blocked by a feminist woman for disagreeing that all men are monsters. In the case of teacher Tericka Dye, that I mentioned in that text written in 2007, how much the United States' educational system had advanced as manufacturer of semi-literate leftists and sinecure of disqualified lesbian-Socialists until 2006, when it thought a woman should not be more a teacher for she made a pornographic film about 10 years before? The title of this text, by the way, was not a trivial provocation. The moral weakness uses hypersensitivity to trifles as if it was demonstration of moral soundness by itself. It's like requiring a rape victim use a language appropriate for 13 years old teenagers to file the case at the police station or the police report to use. Those who think that the language of the police report may be more noteworthy that rape it reports, at best is a fainthearted who values more politeness than the defense of justice, or who despises less evil itself than the harsh language in his denounce. At worst, is someone who defends the criminal or crime with a embellished subterfuge. This can be for an average person without much hope not to face the world. This can be for a person with a bad character not to face the own interior. But, inevitably, the moral weakness ends up turning into immoral motive power.
